Neverfail and VMware
Working Together on Application Continuity
Neverfail is an OEM partner of VMware. VMware uses the application aware continuous availability suite to power vCenter Server Heartbeat.
vCenter Server is the control hub for the vSphere infrastructure. It controls vMotion, SRM, VIEW and many other tools within the vSphere infrastructure. This means that if vCenter Server fails, for whatever reason, then extended vSphere funtionality is compromised.
vSphere relies on Neverfail to protect vCenter Server because of our unique, application aware approach which concentrates on keeping mission critical applications always available. Many vCenter Server deployments are on physical servers and again, the unique physical and virtual ability of Neverfail is a key factor here.
The fact that VMware themselves chose Neverfail to provide high availability for one of their most critical applications is testament to the functionality and flexibility of Neverfail.
VMware vSphere provides a very robust set of business continuity tools that protect against platform failure. If applications have been virtualized and are running on vSphere then tools such as VMware/HA, vMotion, SRM and FT will protect availability of those applications against virtual infrastructure issues. If applications themselves should fail then Neverfail vAppHA will work with vSphere to maintain application availability.
Where cost considerations have meant that vSphere is being used without the benefit of shared storage Neverfail provides a shared-nothing alternative capable of providing local high availability and remote disaster recovery.
Of course many tier-1 applications remain deployed on physical servers. Here Neverfail can continue to deliver high availability and/or disaster recovery leveraging vSphere for maximum availability with the lowest cost.
In addition to core Neverfail products, Neverfail vAppHA for VMware is available which provides an additional level of Continuous Application Availability. vAppHA leverage VMware HA and vMotion by enabling failover under a variety of conditions that can be detected within virtual machines. Specifically business-critical applications are protected against the most common causes of downtime, such as application failures, service failures, performance degradation, configuration changes and user error.
