Neverfail for Orion™ Database
Neverfail partners with Solarwinds to provide the technology for the Orion Failover Engine which provides high availability and disaster recovery for the Solarwinds® Orion Network Performance Monitor™. The Orion Failover Engine (FoE) monitors the health of Orion NPM servers to ensure that visibility into network performance is never lost. If something should happen to a primary Orion server, Orion FoE automatically fails over to a remote server.
As Orion NPM utilizes a Microsoft SQL Database to store performance information for analysis and reporting it is also important to ensure that the Orion Database is similarly protected against downtime.
For organizations that require failover of the Orion database Neverfail has developed the Neverfail for Orion Database product. It is modelled on Neverfail’s award winning Neverfail for SQL product.
Providing high availability and disaster recovery for the Orion Database
Neverfail can ensure that network administrators always access to performance data even when planned maintenance or unexpected outages take down the primary database server.
If something should happen to your primary Orion database, Neverfail for Orion Database automatically fails over database operations to an alternative local or remote database server. This failover server assumes the full identity of the Orion Database to ensure data continues to be collected and remains available for analysis. Just as with the Orion Failover Engine Neverfail for Orion Database provides:
- Monitoring and alerting of Orion Database issues
- Remediation of database availability issues including automated restart or failover as appropriate
