Neverfail Group's Data Rollback Module Designed to Ensure Data Restoration Now Available
AUSTIN, Texas — Nov. 15, 2005 — The Neverfail Group, a leading global software company providing affordable data protection, high availability and disaster recovery solutions designed to keep users connected to business critical applications, today announced the availability of the Neverfail Data Rollback Module. The new module rolls back corrupted application data to a previous point in time when the data was in a consistent, accurate and operable state.
Businesses today face constant risks to their IT systems — from virus attacks and application malfunctions to simple but devastating user errors. No matter the initial reason for the failure, the resulting data corruption can quickly yet thoroughly paralyze an entire organization’s ability to operate productively. Neverfail’s Data Rollback Module ensures that IT personnel can simply roll back business-critical application data to an earlier point in time and restore it to its previous, proper state regardless of what type of IT disruption caused the problem.
Neil Robertson, CEO of the Neverfail Group, comments, "Neverfail solutions have always focused on eliminating user downtime, whatever the cause. The Data Rollback Module extends our protection to address data corruption, while delivering world-class recovery times after the event."
Neverfail’s Data Rollback Module leverages Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) technology to ensure the highest level of compatibility across the Microsoft environment. By taking shadow copies of a secondary passive server, Neverfail avoids the typical “freezing” of an application that normally occurs with VSS on a typical production server, thereby permitting more frequent shadowing than in a single server infrastructure. More frequent shadowing means greater granularity; up to 512 snapshots can be stored at any one time in an ultra-efficient format that only keeps track of differences between snapshots.
This added protection proved attractive to Douglas Moore, director of IT operations for Acosta, a full-service sales and marketing agency that provides outsourced sales, merchandising, marketing, and promotional services to more than 1,300 manufacturers across North America. Acosta recently purchased Neverfail’s Data Rollback Module along with Neverfail for Exchange, which proactively monitors the entire server environment and provides failover protection for Microsoft® Exchange 2003.
"We evaluated several other Exchange replication solutions, including XOsoft and MessageOne, over a three-month period. Neverfail was the right fit due to the product’s enhanced feature set, quick failover functionality that happens in five minutes or less — and that requires no intervention from the end-user or the IT department — and finally, the cost," Moore says. "The Neverfail Data Rollback Module provided us with added assurance that should Exchange data corruption occur, we could quickly roll back to a point-in-time snapshot."
Neverfail’s Data Rollback Module provides organizations with the ability to:
-
Recover data from a physical or logical corruption to a consistent point in time
-
Utilize simple, “one-button” rollback and application restart in the event of a corruption
-
Enjoy complete application availability no matter the cause of outage through the module’s easy integration with Neverfail’s High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions
-
Eliminate all overhead associated with taking "snapshots" against the production server
-
Reduce required storage significantly by only capturing the differences between data and allowing consolidation of older data images
The Data Rollback Module integrates with Neverfail Heartbeat, the core technology that powers all of Neverfail’s application availability and disaster recovery solutions for the Microsoft® technology platform. Neverfail Heartbeat’s "cluster-class" solution replicates data from an active server to a passive server in either a LAN or WAN environment to protect Microsoft applications against a wide range of potential failures.
"Because Neverfail’s Data Rollback Module is incorporated directly into our standard management console, administrators can use a single interface to easily customize their own snapshot schedules," Robertson continues. "This is a further extension of Neverfail’s line of easy-to-install, easy-to-manage high availability and disaster recovery products that offer an alternative to clustering at a low price."
