The Availability Director is part of the Neverfail Continuous Availability Suite. It provides an intuitive interface enabling real-time visibility and control of application availability across the organization.
A critical part of any business continuity strategy is to understand the impact of down time on business processes, and then ensuring that user downtime can be eliminated for the most critical parts of the business. Preserving the user-experience means taking a business centric view of availability rather than just focusing on individual IT applications.
Legacy continuity solutions fail the business by concentrating in IT recovery. They fail to recognize that protecting individual IT components alone will not ensure that business keeps operating through IT outages.
The Neverfail Continuous Availability Director changes this by protecting availability of business applications.
Rarely is one business process delivered by a single IT function. An e-commerce website for example will depend on availability at least a SQL database, IIS servers, File Systems, a bespoke or packaged application and of course the underlying hardware and network infrastructure. If any one of these IT components fail, the service will fail.
This is why the Neverfail Availability Director is designed to provide a view of the status of business applications. Failover actions and configuration of rules and policies can be instigated from a single interface.
Different views of the organizational structure allow IT applications to be grouped to reflect business applications (e.g. E-commerce); technology functions (e.g. mobile email, SharePoint); geographical structures (e.g. New York, London) or any other desired view. At a glance the operational status of key business applications can be drilled into and if necessary actions such as manual failover or re-configuration can be instigated from the Availability Director.
The Availability Director provides system administrators with a single point of management and control for Continuous Availability. It delivers a business centric view of critical systems and application servers significantly reducing the ongoing management burden.
From a single point administrators can carry our monitoring of critical applications and then manage policies and rules controlling failover and switchback simplifying the overall availability management of multiple IT applications.
