Application Availability
Leveraging The Application Management Framework
The reality in today’s businesses, small and large, is that downtime of vital applications can have severe impact on business operations. This leads to customer dissatisfaction, loss of productivity, reputation damage and revenue loss. Planning for continuous availability of applications without which the business cannot function should be top of the IT agenda.
Business relies on tier-1 applications including Windows Applications such as email, collaboration and database systems; Mobility platforms such a BlackBerry and Windows Mobile and those deployed on virtual platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V. In all cases the threat of downtime is constant.
Policies and rules pre-defined.
To focuse in tier-1 Application Aware Availability Neverfail includes a unique Application Management Framework (AMF) which controls how continuous availability is optimized for different applications. AMF uses plug-ins which define policies, rules and task that will control availability of the applications. Out of the box AMF knows how to control Exchange Availability, SQL Server continuity and all of the applications supported by Neverfail.
Auto discovery accelerates implementation and prevent errors
Organizations implement critical systems and databases differently. AMF recognizes this and will actually discover how protected applications are configured. It will detect registration entries and database locations to make sure all components are protected. And as systems change over time so AMF adjusts policies and rules. If a new database is added then AMF discovers its location and includes it under protection policies. Configuration creep is no longer an issue with Neverfail.
Single GUI control - configuration not coding
Policies and rules can be fully tailored to reflect individual needs. This is done through a single GUI, so one interface for continuous availability of SQL, email, Blackberry, Sharepoint and all the other applications Neverfail supports. If custom applications need to be protected that same GUI is used.
Going beyond recovery
Application, system and network failures may cause unplanned outages. Routine and emergency maintenance on system components, power supplies or air-conditioning may require pro-active shutdown. For some areas of the world preparing for hurricanes or the threat of flood may mean emergency shutdown. In all of these situations maintaining continuity of service can make all the difference. Neverfail guards against all these scenarios.
AMF brings automation, monitoring and application management taht makes the difference, maintaining user connectivity to critical applications. The result is the user is isolated from the impact of IT and application downtime to ensure no business downtime even if an IT system or a virtual machine must be shutdown.
