Automatic Failover and Switchback
Keeping The Business Running
Neverfail provides automated or single click failover options. As a result Neverfail can provide automatic failover to deal with outages including hardware failure, power supply issues, operating and network system issues and of course application failures.
Automatic failover can be locally for high availability, remotely for disaster recovery or both for maximum threat protection
Neverfail employs a secondary or tertiary architecture. Pairs of servers can be configured where a secondary server automatically takes over the application, or three servers can be configured as a trio to protect against local and site wide threats in one integrated solution.
Automated or manual failover
Neverfail will detect when critical applications become unavailable. It will try to remediate the situation wherever possible, but if failover is unavoidable it will automatically make the most appropriate standby server available. This may be the local high availability server or the remote disaster recovery server to ensure business users are not disrupted.
Of course sometimes it is possible to foresee disaster before it strikes. Perhaps the "disaster" is a planned outage from the utility company, or a hurricane is forecast to hit land overnight. In both cases critical applications can be failed over proactively to an alternative site before disaster strikes.
Planned maintenance
Normally "disaster" is much more mundane than a natural event. Planned maintenance is a major cause of downtime, and often that planned maintenance has to take place at the most inconvenient time. Midnight in California is the start of the business day in London. Not a great time to start system maintenance.
Weekends may seem like good times to carry out major work like power supply upgrades, yet in a global economy with an online customer base this just isn’t possible either. The ability to manually failover applications, locally or remotely, means that planned maintenance can take place without user disruption. The key to the value of manual or automatic failover is the ability to switchback. Neverfail maintains business continuity even during the switchback process delivering user continuity before, during and after a system outage.
Switchback without interruption
When situation normal is resumed this shouldn't in itself cause disruption. Neverfail provides for controlled switchback without business interruption. It will look after re-synchronization of databases and ensure seamless switchback to the primary site.
