Skype outage spurs user outrage: Can your business weather a downtime disaster?
On December 22, 2010 Skype experienced a massive worldwide loss of service when several of its “supernodes” became disabled. This outage not only prompted a massive outcry among consumers but also caused many of the businesses that rely on Skype, including Neverfail, losses in productivity. The outage comes at a particularly difficult time for Skype, seeing as it is seeking to expand its customer base to include large corporations in addition to its staple market of consumers and small organizations. The disruption of service will likely foster skepticism among perspective customers who are debating about paying a hefty price for large-scale Skype products.
